July 2026 update

50-heart launch offer and full-resolution portrait viewer

This release changes how hearts work, restores full-resolution flamingo portraits where devices support them, and updates compatibility for Android and Microsoft Store builds.

50 hearts for new and returning players

New players start with 50 hearts. Existing players with fewer than 50 receive a one-time top-up to 50, while balances already above 50 stay unchanged.

When a balance falls below 50, the 15-minute recharge interval restores it to 50. Hearts earned through purchases or rewards can still take the balance above 50.

How the HUD displays hearts

The main counter continues to show 3/3. Additional hearts appear beside it as a small +N value.

Full-resolution portraits return

Flamingo portraits can once again open at full resolution on supported devices. Loading is safer for large files, including portraits above 8K resolution.

Lower-memory mobile devices continue to use optimized previews. If a device cannot show the original image at full scale, the viewer reports the relative resolution being displayed. Downloads use the full-resolution portrait where the device supports it.

  • Copyright information remains visible on smaller screens.
  • The toolbar can be hidden and restored.
  • Unnecessary borders were removed and viewer controls were simplified.
  • Portrait centring, title placement, zoom reporting and scrollbar presentation were refined.

A more focused portrait tour

The guided portrait tour now moves slowly across the eye, beak, outer edges and low-poly geometry. The unwanted zoom-out in the middle of the tour has been removed. Moving the mouse or touching the screen ends the tour.

Portrait-mode buttons now follow the established interface style. Existing controller bindings, button actions and wiring remain unchanged.

The default HUD position is on the right. Overlay HUD and always-visible HUD are enabled by default.

Windows startup and Android 16 support

Windows startup now avoids loading heavy portrait assets too early and includes protection against the blank startup screen reported with Microsoft Store builds.

The heart migration preserves local and cloud player progress. Google Play and Microsoft Store purchase product identifiers are unchanged.

Android build details

  • Target and compile SDK updated to Android 16, API 36.
  • Android Gradle Plugin updated to 8.9.1.
  • Android Build Tools updated to 36.1.0.
  • The app requests only Internet and network-state permissions.
  • Landscape orientation remains intentional.
  • R8 remains disabled because billing and plugin stripping have not been separately validated.
